Govt empowered to adjust electricity, gas prices directly

Online Desk: The government has empowered itself to adjust the prices of electricity and gas directly without conducting any hearing.
President Abdul Hamid issued an ordinance amending the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Act on Thursday (December 1).
Earlier on Monday, the cabinet gave final approval to the draft of Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (Amendment) Ordinance 2022.
As a result, the power to regulate oil, gas, electricity prices came to the government as well as the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC).
