Online Desk: Year-long legalisation procedure is set to begin today, Friday (January 27) in Malaysia.

Undocumented Bangladeshi expatriates in Malaysia will get a chance to be legalized with a fine of 1500 Malaysian Ringgit. The process will go on until December 31 this year, according to sources in Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, Md Golam Sarwar, the Bangladesh high commissioner to Malaysia, held a meeting with Malaysian Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail over various interest related issues of Bangladeshi expatriates in the country on Wednesday (January 25).

“The legalisation process of the undocumented Bangladeshis will start today (January 27),” said Golam Sarwar, the Bangladesh high commissioner to Malaysia.

In the meeting, the Bangladesh high commissioner to Malaysia urged his Malaysian counterpart to legalise undocumented Bangladeshi expatriates on easy terms under recalibration program.

The move to legalise them means the workers will now get better pay, enjoy more rights and can travel home on vacation with low cost.
