Online Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought votes for “Boat” from the inhabitants of Jashore in the next Jatiya Sangsad election.

“I want that you will cast your ballots in favour of ‘Boat’ to give the Awami League another scope to serve you as you did in the last elections,” she said while addressing a rally at Shams-ul-Huda Stadium in Jashore on Thursday.

The prime minister reminded all that the BNP did not give anything to the people rather resorting to the politics of killing, torture and filing false cases one after another alongside making own fortunes by plundering public money, conducting arms trading and siphoning off money.

“BNP did not give anything to the people except killing, repression, jail terms ans disappearing people,” she said, referring to her government’s massive development works across the country which helped Bangladesh become a developing country alongside elaborating their plans to transform Bangladesh into a developed one by 2041.

The people present at the rally extended their support to the call of prime minister raising their hands.

The prime minister alerted the countrymen about rumours about the reserves and liquidity in banks spread by the BNP-Jamaat clique, urging the people not to pay heed to the rumours as Bangladesh is in a strong position economically and it has no crisis of money in the bank though the world is been going through a economic recession.

Regarding the criticism about foreign exchange reserves, Awami League president Sheikh Hasina said, “Many are now criticising the government over reserves. Many of them ask where the reserves have gone. But, we didn’t waste the reserves. Rather, we have used it for the welfare of people.”

“We had to buy fuel oils and food-grains. We had to spend reserves to implement various projects. We had to ensure Covid-19 vaccines and healthcare facilities of people. We had to spend from reserves for these matters. Our government  raised the reserves to a record level, which other governments couldn’t do in the history of Bangladesh. We have been doing all the tasks maintaining adeqaute reserves. We have no problem of reserves. We have enough money in banks. There will be no shortage of money in the days ahead,” she said.

Referring to the Awami League rally in Jashore, the Prime Minister mentioned that she was very happy to speak at the rally in Jashore. “I have my family ties with Jashore. My maternal grandfather Sheikh Zahurul Huque is lying in the soil of Jashore. He worked in Jashore. He died when my mother was only three years old. It couldn’t be possib;e to come here due to dilapidated road communication system in Jashore at that time. My grandfather was buried here. We will build an IT park in Jashore in memory of my grandfather.”

Hasina said, “My government will do whatever necessary for renovating the Shams-ul-Huda Stadium. I want your blessings and affection. At the same time, I want your commitment that you will make us victorious by casting your ballots in favour of ‘Boat’ symbol. I will give you more than whatever you want.”

Jashore District Awami League president Shahidul Islam presided over the rally. It was also addressed by Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader.
